ODE TO A RESCUE HORSE

Magic during his recovery with little Missy, one of our other rescue cases.I stumbled upon this earlier which i wrote about a year ago, after rescuing Magic as shown below....he had been neglected and ridden hard....tearing his tendon, which in an older 17 year old could have been fatal...

The Ode of a Rescue Horse
His big dark eyes penetrate the core to my very soul, and I know his wisdom is beyond my human understanding…..

It pains me deeply to watch as he drags his injured leg behind his fragile and thin body, for he has suffered appallingly, and repeatedly at the hands of ignorance, for crimes he did not commit . . . . .
for simply being a horse

His only agenda was, as always- to survive, and no malice to the people that have raped his soul, or carried out this damage to his now broken body is even present

I vowed to save him . . . . to save this abused waif and stray . . . . .
and I am determined,  though I do sometimes worry if his injuries are too severe

Even in this half state, he teaches me through his kindness, that two wrongs never make a right, and he shows me the way to assist others about his kind

For the love of a rescue horse like Magic runs deep .......
and I wonder every day on how to stem this flooding tide of cruelty and abuse, as to stop this from happening ever again……

but sadly the continual flow of horses like this makes it beyond the reach of one woman in this sea of equine destruction…..

Though you are all welcome to join me as I continue to try……

Magic as he is now :)I am pleased to say that Magic did make a full recovery, and was re-homed in early 2013. He continues to have a happy life with Kirsten and his mares as shown here.
